LONGi’s Hi-MO 9 BC Modules Beat TOPCon in LCOE: Enertis Applus+ Study Validates Superior Commercial Performance

New-Project37

Seville, Spain – June 2025 – A new independent analysis by global consultancy Enertis Applus+ confirms that LONGi’s Hi-MO 9 back-contact (BC) modules outperform TOPCon technology in terms of energy yield, cost-efficiency, and levelized cost of electricity (LCOE), reinforcing LONGi’s position as a leader in utility-scale solar innovation.

The study focused on a 47MW single-axis tracker PV project in Seville, with Energy Yield Assessments (EYA) based on module data supplied by LONGi. Results provide strong technical validation for the adoption of BC technology in large-scale solar deployments.

Key Findings:

  • Higher Energy Yield: LONGi’s Hi-MO 9 delivered 2.4%–3.4% more energy output in the first operational year—equal to 2,209 hours, boosting project revenues.
  • Cost Parity Achieved: Despite a slightly higher price (+0.7¢/W), overall CAPEX remained competitive due to optimized system design and efficient cost structures.
  • LCOE Advantage: Hi-MO 9 achieved an impressive €0.02706/kWh LCOE, representing a 3.92–4.47% reduction versus TOPCon modules. Benefits stem from:
  • Higher output per unit cost
  • Better tracker compatibility
  • Reduced electrical losses

This performance reflects the synergistic value of higher efficiency and cost control, maximizing ROI for utility-scale investors and enhancing competitiveness in global markets. The Hi-MO 9 also strengthens the case for rapid decarbonization through reliable, high-value solar assets.
